Our Jewels
Jóias jewelry is nickel free; most made of Sterling Silver, which is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper. It is a soft and malleable metal. Our silver jewelry may also be available in gold and rose gold, 0.5 micron, plating and oxidised. If necessary, it is almost always possible to re-plate any piece. Most of our Sterling Silver collection has a satin/matte/brushed finish. Gold-filled is produced by a chemical or electronic process which bonds a layer of 12-14k gold on a base layer, thereby creating a material called gold filled. The percentage of gold in the metal has to be a minimum of 5%.
We also have a wide selection of plated and mixed metal alloys jewelry. Plated pieces consist of a base metal (such as copper or brass) plated in a layer of rhodium, silver, gold or rose gold. Rhodium is a precious metal that is in the family of platinum. Rhodium plated jewelry involves plating the jewelry with a surface that guards against scratches and that also gives a reflective white appearance. Mixed metal alloys may have no plating or finish. It is natural for copper jewelry to oxidize overtime creating a unique patina. To prolong the plating treat your jewelry with the outmost care. We also create jewelry made with natural stones, aluminum, brass, leather and synthetic materials.
"Capin Dourado' (Golden Straw) jewelry is also available on line or at the shop. Capim Dourado is a grass-like specie of Eriocaulaceae which exists in the region of Japalão, in the state of Tocantins, Brazil. It has a very distinctive bright gold color and beautiful texture.
